The band CSN performed Suite: Judy Blue Eyes as their opening song at the Woodstock and Live Aid festivals. The title Suite: Judy Blue Eyes is a play on words for ‘Sweet Judy Blue Eyes’ and refers to Judy Collins, Stephen Stills’ former girlfriend who is known for her bright blue eyes. It was released as a single in September 1969 and peaked at #21 on the US singles chart (#11 in Canada). The song appeared on Crosby, Stills and Nash’s self-titled debut album. Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN) formed in the late 60s, the line-up featuring two Americans and an Englishman who had all been in successful bands David Crosby = The Byrds, Stephen Stills = Buffalo Springfield, and Graham Nash = The Hollies. In late 1969, they released a self-titled album that includes songs like, Marrakesh Express, Guinnervere, Wooden Ships, Hopelessly Hoping and Suite: Judy Blue Eyes.
